With her roots deeply intertwined with the Philippines’ revolutionary history, Gemma spoke with conviction about the pioneering spirit of Filipino women. She highlighted the nation’s groundbreaking milestones, including being the first to implement minimum wage laws, export rice, and engage in a trans-Pacific trade route. She recounted the anti-colonization movements led by Dr. Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, intertwining their legacy with a powerful call to support local crafts and industries. Her words resonated deeply, igniting a profound sense of pride and purpose among the attendees.

APAA President Hari Subramaniam followed with a heartfelt welcome message, celebrating the resilience and strength of women lawyers across Asia-Pacific.
