Day 1 | Welcome First Time Participants
November 18, 2024
Taft Ballroom 2, Conrad Manila
The First Timers Reception at the 76th Council Meeting of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA 2024) was a remarkable opening event designed to introduce and integrate new attendees into the vibrant APAA community. Hosted at Taft Ballroom 2, Conrad Manila on 18 November 2024 at 4:30 PM, this special gathering provided a unique platform for newcomers to connect, engage, and feel part of the broader APAA family.
The event was led by Ms. Narcisa T. Medina from the Philippines, who set the tone with her warm and enthusiastic opening remarks. She emphasized the importance of making the most of this opportunity to forge connections and immerse oneself in the APAA experience.
The first speaker, APAA President Hari Subramaniam, delivered an inspiring message about the significance of the APAA convention. He underscored the event’s unique ability to bring together professionals from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond, creating opportunities not only for business networking but also for meaningful social interactions. President Hari Subramaniam eloquently remarked, “Through APAA, participants are able to learn about the diverse cultures of different countries.” He also highlighted the steady growth in attendance over the years, a testament to the event’s enduring relevance and appeal.
Following his address, the host invited participants to share their expectations for the event. Their responses were varied and enthusiastic. Some were looking forward to fun, others to making new friends, and many to the valuable learning experiences APAA offers.
To further engage attendees, a lively and interactive game followed. Participants were paired up and tasked with answering a series of questions simultaneously, aiming to match their partner’s responses. This activity not only added a fun element to the evening but also encouraged teamwork and interaction among first-timers.
The second speaker, Mr. Mark Leo Bejemino, a seasoned APAA member from the Philippines, provided practical advice on how to maximize the APAA experience. He encapsulated the essence of the event with three words:
- Connect – Build meaningful networks with fellow attendees.
- Learn – Engage in roundtable discussions, attend sessions, and glean insights from the people you meet. Apply these learnings both in practice and in life.
- Enjoy – Make the most of the exciting activities prepared for participants, from dining to singing and dancing. According to Mr. Bejemino, “APAA is not just an event—it’s an experience of fun and connection.”
The program concluded with closing remarks by the host, Ms. Medina, who expressed gratitude to the participants for their active involvement and enthusiasm. She encouraged everyone to take full advantage of the opportunities that APAA 2024 has to offer.
